Daniel, who has been qualified as a solicitor for over 25 years, has a reputation for being commercially savvy and fearless; this has won him clients who expect the very best. His expertise lies in family law and dispute resolution.
He provides clear, focused and strategic advice on all aspects of family law including property and financial matters and child arrangements. He has a particular focus on cases involving significant asset pools and issues of legal and commercial complexity.
He helps clients to develop a strategy at an early stage of the dispute resolution process and works with leading counsel, experts and other professionals to provide clients with a complete litigation service all the way through to the conclusion of a case. He routinely litigates in the High Court Queen’s Bench and Chancery Divisions as well as across the country in the County Court. He has extensive experience of resolving disputes through mediation and other forms of ADR.
Acting for a substantial landowner in the House of Lords challenging the extension of the Jubilee Line on the London Underground tube system.
R v Wallace Duncan Smith - represented a Defendant accused of fraudulent trading and obtaining property by deception in a £90million banking fraud.
Clancy v Clancy (2003) - acting for a Defendant in a contested probate case. The court dismissed the Claimant's action seeking revocation of a grant of probate obtained by her brother in respect of their mother's Will.
Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Company Ltd v Kosky (2013) - successfully defended the first ever application for permission to bring committal proceedings for contempt of court under the CPR 81 in the High Court.
He acts for and against high profile individuals in their divorces. Clients have included professional footballers and other celebrities.
Daniel's work also includes Employment Settlement Agreements, Lasting Powers of Attorney and applications for deputyship.
Daniel’s first job was as a children’s birthday party entertainer. He is a very long-suffering Derby County season ticket holder and has a particular taste for Earl Grey tea and an occasional single malt - but not at the same time. When he isn’t working, he enjoys spending quality time with his family and travelling (which often coincides with Derby County away games).
